THAI Body Work

Thai Body Work
is an ancient healing technique enjoying recent popularity in the west. The Thai body work session is traditionally performed on a floor mat. I do Thai body work on the massage table. You wear comfortable shirt and slacks, plain old cotton works best, T-shirts are fine. The hands and feet are usually exposed. The session generally lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

I do all the work while the you relax and allow all your tensions to dissipate. My hands, feet, knees, forearms and elbows apply Thai acupressure (jap sen), reflexology, deep gentle stretching, joint compression and decompression and rotation with rhythmic breathing to awaken and remove stagnant and negative energy from blocked and broken sen lines (energy meridians). The stagnant and negative energy is replaced with vital energy, increased circulation of blood and lymph glands, flexibility and increased range of motion, grounding, balance, relaxation and improved posture.

Tok Sen
is the application of rhythmic tapping along sen lines in addition to the Thai body work. The tapping is done with a small wooden hammer and wedge which sends vibration deeper into the energy meridians.

Thai Herbal Ball
is another very pleasant bodywork experience where an aromatic cotton ball filled with herbs and spices is warmed in a steamer and applied along sen lines in addition to the Thai body work. There is an additional charge for the herbal balls (2) which you can take home and store in a cool dry place. The same ball may be used many times and is generally replaced after six or seven uses. You would bring them with you to the next session.

These ancient techniques are reported to relieve stress, aches and pains of hips, back, neck and head, constipation and premenstrual symptoms, and release lactic acid and other toxins. After the session you will feel relaxed and invigorated as if after a good healthy workout and massage. You will breathe more fully and healthfully and enjoy a sense of over all well-being.

Thai body work is best when received on a regular basis. Once a month for a healthy person with no injuries or chronic pain is ideal. More frequent sessions can provide much needed relief from minor injuries and chronic pain.

All Thai Body Work therapy sessions are by appointment, in the studio or at your home. A clear space about eight feet wide by ten feet long is needed to accommodate the table and working space around all sides if done in your home.
